I just had to get over the style choice first. I’m not sure I’d call it a twist, but the reveal toward the end was quite nice and made the story even better. Daisy, Camilla, and Karen were all pretty fierce in taking control of their lives, so I’m here for it. And I must say, I really liked the girls of this story. There’s a lot of tension between Billy and… everyone. It is loosely based on Fleetwood Mac and is full of all the sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll you’d imagine it to be. That was annoying at first, but I got used to it and got over it. It’s written in an unusual style, as though interviews from members of the band, their team, and other voices who would know something about the topic are all spliced together to tell the story. (Check out my show comparison review here.) I wasn’t expecting to like it since I’m not a big 70’s fan, but this book pleasantly surprised me.ĭaisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid tells the story of a band’s rise and fall throughout the 1970’s. I picked up the book because I had the opportunity to watch the Daisy Jones and The Six TV adaptation before its release, and I felt like I should probably read the book first. I can’t decide if this is a ‘Bookstagram made me do it’ read or not.
